The Benefits Of Cancer Coaching
Hi, It’s Suzanne Day, Metastatic Breast Cancer Fighter and CEO of Cancer Coaching Australia
I didn’t choose cancer coaching as a niche, it chose me. However, the benefits of having a Cancer coach are many.
As a 2-time survivor of cancer myself, my cancer coaching came about when a long-term cancer survivor suffering from significant late effects was referred to me. For them, surviving was a miracle overshadowed by challenges resulting from treatment and the disease.
Using my own experiences, in just three sessions, my client addressed multiple issues that had been severely limiting their physical energy, and almost quadrupled what they had available to lead their daily life.
So I decided the best way to make a difference was to help people with cancer by sharing my own cancer experiences with them and supplying cancer coaching.
Now, there are many benefits to having a cancer coach. In all honesty, I can only speak for myself and maybe some of the people I provide cancer coaching to, as everyone is different.
Some of the benefits of having a Cancer Coach
#1. Professional Cancer Coaching & Goal Setting – Cancer Coaching Australia and I provide the same services for people with cancer as professional coaches do for athletes.
We help you stay focused, motivated and give you the tools, education and skills to live your life and reach your goals living with the challenges of cancer.
Like all athletes, the amount of Cancer Coaching support you need depends on many things, such as your age, your diagnosis, where you are now, where you want to go and how you want your journey to develop.
#2. Another benefit is that we can formulate a cancer plan for you – With so much fear and conflicting information about cancer in articles and on the Internet, it’s hard to know which cancer information is accurate and which is not.
This is why we’re big on cancer education and why I work with you, and your loved ones if you like, on formulating an actionable cancer plan. The benefit of this is that you’ll have a clear understanding of your cancer and a plan of action designed to suit your current lifestyle, and that will also evolve with your changing lifestyle.
#3. Cancer Coaching Australia Has A Train Track Approach – My approach to working with you is to view it like a set of train tracks with two tracks.
- Track 1 – The medical plan and diagnosis make up one track. It takes time, energy, and resources to manage this aspect as either a patient or a caregiver.
- Track 2 – The second track is the track called your life. In addition to track one, both patient and caregiver need to understand how to manage and have a life as the medical treatment unfolds and post-treatment.
#4. Receive, Learn & Develop Cancer Coping Skills – Another benefit of Cancer Coaching is that we can help you overcome the fear and anxiety of having cancer for you and your loved ones.
It can be tough, but with the right mindset, support, education and understanding, developing the right cancer coping skills will make all the difference to how you and your loved ones think, see and act about you or one of them having cancer.
#5. Work together across all areas of your cancer journey – This can include talking, advice and education about choosing an oncologist, discussing more natural cancer remedies or treatments, how you’re going to manage work and paying for treatments, and many other aspects.
Once again, the biggest benefit of this is that I’ve been where you may be now. So having someone with previous experience can make a huge difference in your attitude, mindset and your mentality towards your cancer treatment and survival rate.
#6. Minimise the chances of cancer reoccurring or the progression of cancer – Another benefit of cancer coaching is that you can empower yourself to learn about cancer prevention once your treatment is completed.
Minimising the chances of cancer returning depends on many things, like the severity of your cancer, what treatment you’re on or had, and so on. However, many people make a complete recovery from cancer, so learning about cancer prevention after your treatment is crucial to a longer and happier healthy life.
#7. Cancer Support To Help You Make Sense Of It All – Throughout your cancer journey, you’re going to have a lot of questions about treatments and be on a roller coaster ride of emotions and anxiety.
Whether it is the shock of diagnosis, questions you have about treatments and if they are right for you or not, or just support, I’m here to help you make sense of it all and bring it all together so you are empowered and focused on your future.
Now, these are just some of the cancer coaching benefits you can look forward to receiving, learning and putting into action with Cancer Coaching Australia and me.
Other benefits are that you’ll think more clearly with me by your side, you’ll make better informed decisions about your cancer and, of course, feel less overwhelmed. So please register for our free information guide and we look forward to speaking with you further about this.
